Exam results day tips 2024
Advice for young people worried about exam results
The local NHS is sharing top tips to deal with stress and anxiety, as nearly 52,000 young people are due to get their exam results over the coming weeks.
A-levels, T-levels, GCSE and other exam results are all due soon, so local health leaders want to ensure students and their families are aware of the range of support available to them, including online support and information services for phone and text crisis helplines.
There are plenty of local services available for those need ing help before or after receiving their results. This includes Cambridgeshire & Peterborough’s dedicated mental health website at www.keep-your-head.com, which is packed full of tips, guidance and advice. Free mental health text messaging support service HEAR 85258 provides real-time support via text, whilst Qwell and Kooth offer chat-based counselling, peer support, and self-help tips .
Becky Jones, Children & Young People Mental Health Clinical Lead at NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said: "I want to congratulate all students who have recently completed their exams. No matter your results, please celebrate with your family and friends. Completing your exams is something to be very proud of.
“If you do feel you could use some extra support ahead of or after getting your results, help is available locally. Don’t be afraid to reach out and get the support you need and try to remember life is about much more than just a grade.”
Helpful websites and local services to support young people include:
- Keep Your Head www.keep-your-head.com - local website provides information on mental health and wellbeing support and local services available for young people and adults across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
- HEAR 85258 - a 24/7 mental health free text messaging support service - texting the word HEAR to 85258 to be connected to a trained professional who will offer them calm in a time or place of crisis.
- Centre 33’s Someone to talk to service , provide s drop-ins, guided self-help and counselling to those aged 13-25 years.
- ChatHealth 07480 635 443 (open Monday – Friday 9.30-4pm) - run by the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Healthy Child Programme, ChatHealth is a secure and confidential text messaging service for young people aged 11-19 across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough who are struggling with a range of health issues.
- Childline Exam results - provides young people with guidance before, during and after their exams, plus the charity’s free phoneline 0800 1111 is available for those who want to talk.
- Qwell and Kooth - free online wellbeing services offering chat-based counselling, peer support and self-help. www.qwell.io – for ages 18+ www.kooth.com – for ages 11- 18 .
- NHS 111 and select the mental health option - if you are in a mental health crisis. This service is available 24/7, 365 days of the year.
