May bank holiday help

Dark blue background with the ICS heart logo, and green, pink and blue dots.

If you need health care support this bank holiday, remember your local NHS is still here for you. Please help us to help you get the right treatment by choosing the right service at the right time for your illness or injury.

It is important to remember that A&E departments are for genuine life-threatening emergencies and serious injuries only. So, if you come to A&E with a problem that isn’t an emergency, you may be sent home. Don’t risk a wasted trip – visit Local Services | CPICS Website to find the right service for your needs.

If you need urgent medical help for something that isn’t life threatening or a serious injury, then use NHS 111 online for advice and support. NHS 111 is available 24/7, every day of the year, online via 111.nhs.uk or over the phone by dialling 111 for free. People who are in a mental health crisis can call 111 and select the mental health option for urgent help.

Throughout Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, some pharmacies will be open during the bank holiday. Pharmacists are highly qualified healthcare professionals and can help with a wide range of common conditions including hayfever, hangovers, colds, emergency contraception, and non-prescription medication. Visit the NHS website to 'Find a Pharmacy' near you.

Two of our local Minor Injury Units (MIUs) in Ely and Doddington, and our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) in Peterborough are open across the bank holiday weekend. You can find out more about the services that are open near you, including MIUs and UTCs, via Local Services.

And finally, if you find that you have run out of prescription medication over the bank holiday weekend and need an emergency repeat prescription, you can request via Emergency prescriptions - NHS 111
