Tick getting winter vaccines

The local NHS are urging people eligible for a free flu or Covid vaccination to tick getting vaccinated off their Christmas to-do list and get protected for the festive break.

Over 425,000 flu and COVID vaccinations have been delivered in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. However, there still more people who need to make sure they are protected this winter

Cali Makewell, Integrated Vaccination Service Lead with NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said, “We all know Christmas can be a really busy time with your head full of things to do. If you’re eligible for a flu or COVID vaccine, we’d really encourage you to get those vaccines, and tick that off your to do list.

“Over the Christmas break as we get together with friends and family indoors, viruses like covid and flu can spread more easily. Which is why we’d really urge you to get your winter vaccinations soon to make sure you’re protected in time, and not miss out on festive celebrations.”

The NHS is offering free flu and COVID vaccines to many groups, including anyone

  • aged 65 and over
  • under 65 with long-term health conditions
  • who is pregnant
  • who is a health and social care worker.
