From Tuesday 18 March 2025, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (CUH) staff providing direct patient care, will have access to the Shared Care Record (ShCR) via a ‘Shared Care’ button within the Trust’s Epic electronic patient record system.
This marks a major milestone in the roll-out of the Shared Care Record and provides, for the first time, immediate access to it from a single sign-on button. Staff directly involved in patient care at CUH simply click the button to get direct and seamless access to the Shared Care Record.
Information available to CUH staff is driven by their job role and Epic login details, following the approved Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) model. A tip sheet on how to access and view information within the Shared Care Record is available to CUH staff via its Learning Library, with more information available on the organisation’s staff intranet.
The Shared Care Record complements existing connectivity and sharing capabilities in CUH – Care Everywhere, GP Connect, EpicCare Link and MyChart patient portal – to enhance CUH sharing of and access to information in support of shared clinical care for patients across the region.
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Shared Care Record electronically provides read-only access to care records for Cambridge and Peterborough residents. Connecting patient information from GPs, local hospitals, social care, community, and mental health teams across our area, provides a safe and secure way to support shared patient care.
