Flu vaccine - last chance

The local NHS is encouraging eligible people who’ve not had their flu vaccine, to get protected before the 2024/25 flu vaccination programme ends on 31 March 2025.
The autumn/winter 2024/25 flu vaccination programme has been running since September 2024, with over 315, 000 people vaccinated across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Royston so far. Anyone who’s eligible for the vaccine and not been vaccinated can still come forward and get theirs.
Cali Makewell, Integrated Vaccination Service Lead with NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said: “It might feel like it’s too late to get your flu vaccine this winter, but if you’ve not had one yet I would really encourage you to book it in. When the flu vaccination programme finishes at the end of March, you will not be able to get the flu vaccine until the vaccination programme begins again in autumn 2025.”
The flu vaccine is recommended for people at higher risk of getting seriously ill from flu, these include anyone who:
- is aged 65 or over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2025)
- has certain long-term health conditions
- is pregnant
- lives in a care home
- is the main carer for an older or disabled person, or receive a carer's allowance
- lives with someone who has a weakened immune system
