Get NHS help over holidays
The local NHS has issued a reminder of all the health services that will be open throughout the holidays, as people across the area get ready for the festive season.
Lots of NHS services will be open throughout the coming weeks, including over Christmas and the New Year. This includes some pharmacies, who will be opening their doors to continue help people with common ailments and conditions. Your pharmacy can give you expert advice, support and treatment for things like colds, indigestion, stomach pain, and more.
If you’ve got a non-emergency, urgent medical problem and you’re not sure what to do, NHS 111 will be open throughout the Christmas and New Year’s period to help you. Just use 111.nhs.uk online or call 111 to get advice from the trained NHS 111 team. NHS 111 will be able to give you the information and tips you need to stay well at home, or help you get seen by the right NHS service if you need medical attention.
Minor Injury Units in Doddington and Ely, and the Urgent Treatment Centre in Peterborough, will also be open over the coming weeks. These clinics can help with sprains and strains, minor burns and scalds, earache, eye problems, minor head injuries and more.
Dr Fiona Head, Chief Medical Officer with NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said:
“We hope you’ll enjoy a happy and healthy holiday season, but if you do get poorly the NHS will be here for you. If you need medical help, please don’t put it off – the NHS never closes for business and we want to help you.
“If you’re not sure what service is best placed to support you, just use NHS 111. The 111 team will give you advice and help you get seen by the NHS service that will best be able to meet your needs.”
People who are facing a genuine life- or limb-threatening emergency should continue to call 999 for urgent support. For more information about all the services that will be open over the coming weeks, visit www.cpics.org.uk/well-together.
