Getting medical help this Easter

How to get medical help over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend

With Easter just around the corner, the local NHS is sharing advice to let people know where they can get help for their health and care needs over the bank holiday weekend.

Many NHS services, including some pharmacies, will be open over the long weekend. Pharmacists can give expert advice and support and treatment for common ailments such as colds, indigestion and stomach pains. Through Pharmacy First, they can also provide prescription medications for seven common conditions, without the need for a GP appointment.

Minor Injury Units are open in Ely and Doddington, along with the Urgent Treatment Centre in Peterborough. Staff can help treat a variety of problems for both adults and children, including sprains, wounds and cuts, and minor burns.

If you need medical help urgently for something that isn’t an emergency, think 111 and use NHS 111 online or call 111 for free. NHS 111 can give you advice and help you get seen by the right service for your needs, if you do need medical attention. Please always call 999 in an emergency.

Dr Fiona Head, Chief Medical Officer at NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said:

The NHS is open 24/7, including during the bank holidays. You can help us look after your health by getting support from the right service for your needs.

If you’re not sure where to go with your issue, think 111 first. NHS 111 is free to use and is available every day of the year, 24 hours a day. It can give you advice and help you get seen by the right team.
