This week the local NHS in Cambridgeshire, Peterborough & Royston has reached the milestone of vaccinating over a quarter of million people against seasonal flu and COVID-19. 
 
Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are offered to the most vulnerable people, and those who are likely to pass the viruses onto people at risk. Getting vaccinated is still the best way people can reduce the chance of getting these viruses or needing to be hospitalised if they become unwell. So far over 86,400 COVID-19 vaccines and 180,900 flu vaccines have been given to those most at risk. 
 
Cali Makewell, Integrated Vaccination Service Lead with NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said: “It is great news that so many people have already come forward to have these winter vaccines, but we really want to encourage anyone who’s not got their vaccine yet to make sure they do so soon. 
 
“It might feel like you don’t need to get vaccinated again if you’ve had COVID-19 or flu before, but immunity from vaccines decreases over time, and viruses change, so it’s still really important to have your vaccines when invited.”
